Windows 98 SE USB EV2300 Driver
known Issues
- The driver causes Windows 98SE to crash
with a blue screen when the EV2300 is unplugged while read/write
operations are in progress.
- On machines running with low resources (
almost all physical memory is used by other running programs, or
machine has just enough memory for the OS ) we have observed crashes in
rare instances.
- The driver has NOT been tested with the
EV2300 connected through a USB hub. This may not be a issue but has
been listed here just in case anyone notices problems in this
configuration. Please note that some older computers have PCI USB cards
with inbuilt hubs.
In conclusion we recommend that the following precautions be observed.
Recommended
precautions/procedures
- To minimize data loss due to crashes, please save your data
before plugging in the board.
- Connect the EV2300 USB board directly to the computer's USB port
without using any kind of USB hub in between.
- Close all other applications. Only one application that uses the
EV2300 USB board should run at any given time when the EV2300 is
connected..
- Before unplugging the board make sure that any programs that are
using it are closed(terminated). Wait a few seconds for the program to
terminate after closing it.
- Unplug the board after use and reboot the system before
proceeding with non-EV2300 related work.
- If Windows 98SE does not boot then unplug the EV2300 USB board
and try. If it boots after unplugging, then you may have installed
outdated drivers before and not updated them as per the document.
