First time Installation Instructions for the EV2300 USB drivers for Windows XP / 2000

  1. Copy/Unzip all the driver files to a local folder(directory) on your machine. Write down the location of this folder.
If unzipping make sure that the "Use folder names" option is checked. The folder information needs to be preserved.
  2. Windows XP will show the contents of the zip file without it being really extracted. If you have Winzip installed open the file in Winzip and "Extract all files" with "Preserve folder information" option. To unzip, you may also double click the *.zip file and  copy the "Driver(USB EV2300) Installer" folder to a new location.
  3. Run SETUP.EXE
  4. If you get a message that a newer driver was found on your machine, please cancel the installation by selecting "No". If your system does not work with the EV2300 at all then you may forcibly install the driver.
  5. Connect the EV2300 USB board.
  6. Windows will show the "New Hardware found".  (Windows did not  do anything! See Possible Errors [B])
  7. Windows will put up a "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. (Show dialog)
Select "Install the software automatically" and click "Next". (Windows automatically installed the driver! This will cause problems. See Possible Errors [C])
The "TI USB bq80xx Driver" and "TI USB Firmware Updater driver" are valid names for the EV2300 drivers.
  8. Windows XP will put up a dialog saying that the driver being installed is unsigned. Select "Continue anyway".
  9. If you are asked for confirmation to overwrite a newer file. Select "No".
  10. Click on Finish.
  11. Reboot if prompted. Disconnect the EV2300 USB board prior to rebooting.
  12. Steps 6 through 11 will be repeated but with the other driver name. Follow the same instructions.
  13. The above installation process installs the driver for the connected USB port. You may have to repeat steps 6 to 11 every time the EV2300 is plugged into a new USB port.
  14. The EV2300 should be ready for use..
Note: In some cases Windows asks for a disk with a specific name when attempting to install the device instead of asking you how to install the driver. In such a case the special uninstall steps are required, so uninstallation will be required before applying the special uninstall steps and attempting to install again. In such cases you may not be able to find "TI USB Firmware Updater" for removal because Windows shows it under "Other Devices" as a "USB Device". Please remove this "USB Device" instead.
