Update the USB EV2300 Drivers for Windows 2000 / XP

If you previously installed drivers on this machine, windows will automatically reinstall the old drivers unless the old drivers are manually uninstalled.
Please read the entire page before proceeding with the update process.

Follow the steps below to update the drivers.
  1. Connect the EV2300 to a USB port.
  2. Run SETUP.EXE and earlier steps as specified in first time installation instructions.
  3. You will see some dialogs mentioned in the first time installation instructions. Follow the same instructions for those steps.
  4. Perform these steps for each USB port on the computer. If you use a USB hub to connect the EV2300 you will have to do this for each port on the hub also.

This upgrade process has to be performed for each USB port - this includes ports on a connected hub. The port being uninstalled is the port to which the EV2300 is connected at the time of uninstall. For persons familiar with the Windows XP / 2000 registry tools it would be easier to uninstall using the advanced user way as mentioned below in Additional information 4 and then do a fresh install.

Additional information:
This information is provided for advanced users of Windows XP / 2000 only.
  1. The EV2300 USB board ships with 2 drivers.
The "TI USB Firmware updater" driver is used during the boot up process of the EV2300.
The "TI USB bq80xx Driver" is used by the end application.
  2. The "TI USB Firmware updater" driver lifetime is only a few milliseconds, therefore it does not show up in Device Manager unless it is improperly installed.
  3. Since uninstalling the "TI USB Firmware updater" is difficult, it is recommended that the uninstall and install steps be performed instead of the "Update Driver" from Device Manager.
  4. Advanced user uninstall
If you connected the EV2300 through a USB hub at any time in the past and want to update the drivers, an easier method would be to open "regedit.exe" from the command line or Start Menu->Run and delete the following registry keys along with its subkeys.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\USB\VID_0451&PID_2136
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\USB\VID_0451&PID_0035
If the registry keys cannot be deleted, please right click and select "Permissions...", give "Everyone" full access and then delete. You will need administrator rights to perform this step.
Then run cleanup.bat(step 8 of uninstall)
Then follow the special uninstall steps.
This will uninstall the driver for all ports and will save time compared to the uninstall process for each port. This method is also more reliable because it does not depend on the hubs that were plugged in, instead it just erases the entire history of ports to which the EV2300 was previously connected.
  5. Important note: The registry is used by Windows to store information. Some changes to the registry may prevent Windows from booting or may cause programs to malfunction.
Please be careful to only delete the above mentioned key and its subkeys, do not change or delete information in any other registry location.
