Windows XP / Windows 2000 USB
EV2300 Driver
known Issues
- On machines running with low resources (
almost all physical memory is used by other running programs, or
machine has just enough memory for the OS ) the driver may be
unreliable and/or unstable.
- The driver has NOT been tested for
compatibility with "Hibernate", "Standby" or similar options found on
some computers. It is possible that these actions may cause the
computer to crash or hang. In a test on Windows XP it was found that
the computer was not prevented from going into Hibernate/Standby, but
after a resume communication with the EV2300 was lost. A unplug
replug sequence was required to get it working again.
- The driver has NOT been tested with the
EV2300 connected through a USB hub. This may not be an issue but has
been listed here just in case anyone notices problems in this
configuration.
In conclusion we recommend that the
following precautions be observed.
Recommended
precautions/procedures
- Please save data
in other programs before plugging in the board.
- Automatic "Hibernate", "Standby" or similar features must be
turned OFF before plugging in the EV2300 USB board and while the EV2300
USB board is plugged in.
- Close all other applications. Only one application that uses the
EV2300 USB board should run at any given time when the EV2300 is
connected..
- Connect the EV2300 USB board directly to the computer's USB port
without using any kind of USB hub in between.
- Before unplugging the board make sure that any programs that are
using it are closed(terminated). Wait a few seconds for the program to
terminate after closing it.
- Before unplugging the board look for the "Safely Remove Hardware"
icon in the system tray, open it, select the TI USB bq80xx driver and Stop
it. Confirm. Unplug the board only
when Windows says that it is safe. If
this feature(icon) is not
available on your version of Windows then ignore this step.
